General Manager’s Message
Hello,
Cities are vast organisms where the transformation of life takes shape. For this reason, urban management means overseeing the functioning of a system. It is essential that all components of this system and the relationships between them are organized in a way that meets the needs of the living urban environment. With the impact of a growing population, mobility in public open spaces has been rapidly increasing in today’s cities, where millions of people reside. Therefore, adopting a holistic approach to urban management has become an absolute necessity.
In today’s world, where digital technology occupies a significant place in urban operations, the concept of “smart cities” has enabled the entire system to become integrated. Meeting the growing and diversifying needs of urban residents in line with the realities of the new era is another important priority. As life becomes increasingly and rapidly digitalized, developing solutions that are both compatible with technology and provide breathing spaces for city dwellers is of great importance for the advancement of civilization.
As İSTON, we have defined our primary mission as meeting the infrastructure and superstructure needs of our cities—particularly Istanbul—through our high-quality products and aesthetic designs. As a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we not only carry a public responsibility but also hold a mission to improve service standards within the construction sector. Indeed, healthy urban development yields productive outcomes when all stakeholders that serve and produce for the city act consistently and purposefully within a shared understanding of quality. In this regard, we believe we represent an important point of balance.
The most significant element that allows us to transfer our corporate mission and goals to the city as tangible outputs is each member of the İSTON family who contributes their knowledge and effort. Thanks to the contributions of our colleagues working across our production, design, R&D, implementation, and administrative units, the IBB İSTON brand exists not only in Istanbul but also in cities across Türkiye and the world. From a bench where someone rests, to a pavement being walked on, a playground filled with children’s joy, a bus stop where passengers wait, and the wastewater networks buried meters below ground—İSTON’s labor is present in countless places.
We know that building a city also means leaving behind a great legacy. As part of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s goal to shape Istanbul into the city of the future, we will continue our journey by designing, producing, and setting new targets.
